Travel & Lodging

Special note!

  • We will hold a reception dinner and an orientation from 5:30-8pm on July 14 at the workshop venue (College of Health Sciences building). For participants who live at the Mesa Court, we will guide you on a walk from the Mesa Court to the workshop venue on July 14. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet fellow participants, access the computational server that we will use in the workshop, and get familiar with the everyday walking route. Please plan your arrival time accordingly if you don't want to miss out these activities. We recommend arriving earlier in the day to comfortably settle in.
  • Upon your arrival at Irvine on July 14, you should first visit the Mesa Court housing office for check-in if you select to stay at the provided university housing. For those who will arrange their own accommodations and want to participate in the afternoon event, please arrive at the workshop venue at 5:30pm for the reception dinner. The workshop lectures officially start on July 15 at 8:30am, on the 3rd floor of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences building.

Accommodations

Housing (double-occupancy rooms) and meals are covered for the duration of the workshop – 12 nights (check-in on July 14, check-out on July 26). Housing is provided exclusively for workshop participants at the Mesa Court on UCI Campus. We have a limited number of single occupancy rooms (with shared bathroom) available, which can be secured on a first-come, first-served basis with an additional fee per night. Participants who do not wish to stay in the university dorms will be responsible for arranging separate accommodations and the corresponding cost.

Housing cost

The cost of double occupancy rooms is covered for the duration of the workshop. Participants can request to share a room with another participant they know. Both participants should email us with their requests at bigcare@uci.edu as early as possible. The roommate requests should include the requested roommate’s name and email. We will confirm the pairing after we receive requests from both participants. Participants who don’t have a requested roommate will be assigned with another participant of the same gender.

Participants can request a single room (with shared bathroom) at an additional cost of $15/night for 12 nights = $180 in total (no tax).  (We don’t cover the additional cost for single rooms.)

Payment of single rooms must be mailed by check and received by us before April 16, 2024 to secure the single room. Details for sending payments will be emailed to you once we get your room choice.
