Big Data Training for Cancer Research

Helping health researchers develop skills for managing, visualizing,
analyzing, and integrating big data

Join Our BigCARE Team for UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge

The 9th UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge is coming up on October 11th, and we are putting together our BigCARE team for the first time this year to show the broader community the real impact our big data work has on cancer research.

What is BigCARE?

Cancer big data is a collection of high-density information from a variety of sources, and it requires sophisticated statistical and computational tools to analyze and extract knowledge. Built on a previous big data training program designed for general biomedical researchers, BigCARE is aimed at helping cancer researchers develop the necessary analytical skills to work with big data, and translate it into knowledge that facilitates precision cancer medicine.

BigCARE 2026 Summer Workshop

The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) of the University of California, Irvine is pleased to announce the annual NCI-funded workshop on “Big Data Training for Cancer Research” (BigCARE) in July, 2026 (tentative). This intensive workshop will help cancer researchers develop skills for managing, visualizing, analyzing, and integrating various types of omics data in cancer studies. The workshop is open to researchers including oncologists, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students.

The workshop will be held on-site at the University of California Irvine, in Irvine, CA. We will open the application portal around December, 2025. Please check our website for updates or email us at bigcare@uci.edu.
